CREST.BD researchers recognise that your privacy is very important to you and that we are under a legal obligation to protect the integrity of your personal information. When you register with the QoL Tool you will be asked to enter your username. We suggest that you use a pseudonym or a made-up username.
Whether you are a research participant, registered user or non-registered user, when using the QoL Tool, you will be asked to complete an assessment by entering information, which you may consider to be sensitive. The program asks for this information in order to provide you with tailored and individualized feedback about your quality of life. For research participants and registered users, the information on your QoL Tool results is stored in your profile with information about the date and time you complete the assessment. Information is also collected in summary form about most frequently visited pages and exit pages. This is intended to help CREST.BD researchers understand how visitors use the QoL Tool and the related CREST.BD Bipolar Wellness Centre. The UBC Research Ethics Board has reviewed the data collection and privacy protocol and has approved data collection activities related to the QoL Tool.
All the information gathered is stored on the University of British Columbia’s server and is subject to stringent security measures.
The CREST.BD researchers will take all reasonable steps to keep all information about you secure. Your information is held on a secure UBC server that is in controlled facilities. In addition, all the staff on the CREST.BD team, UBC employees and contractors that provide services related to our information systems, are obliged by law to respect the confidentiality of any personal information and/or research information held by CREST.BD. Please keep your personal information secure by using a made up username and by keeping your password secure.
